Reasonably available control technology (RACT)

An emission control standard required by the U.S. Clean Air Act for existing major sources of air pollutants in areas that are not meeting national air quality standards. Reasonably Available Control Technology, or RACT, is defined as the lowest emission limitation that a particular source can meet through control systems that are technologically and economically feasible. State environmental agencies are responsible for determining what constitutes RACT for specific industrial categories.
