Waiting period deductible

A provision in some disability or workers' compensation policies that specifies a period of time an injured or ill worker must wait before benefits begin. During this waiting period, the worker receives no compensation for lost wages, effectively acting as a deductible in terms of time rather than money. This period can range from a few days to several weeks, depending on the policy and jurisdiction.
