Waiver

The voluntary relinquishment of a known right, claim, or privilege. In insurance, a waiver can occur when an insurer intentionally gives up its right to enforce a policy provision or condition. This can be express, through a written agreement, or implied, through actions that demonstrate an intent to forgo the right.
