Workers compensation (WC)

A state-mandated, no-fault insurance system that provides medical, wage-replacement, and rehabilitation benefits to employees who are injured or become ill in the course of their employment. In exchange for these guaranteed benefits, employees give up the right to sue their employer for negligence related to the injury. This system, governed by individual state laws, serves as the exclusive remedy for an employee to recover damages from an employer for a work-related injury.
