Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-003565

The total premium an insurer records for policies written or renewed during a period, taken at the full policy term amount when the policy is issued, whether or not the premium has been collected. It is adjusted for endorsements and for return premiums on cancellations. Unlike earned premium, which recognises the premium gradually as coverage is provided, written premium counts the whole policy term at issue.
