Abscond

To secretly leave a jurisdiction or conceal oneself to evade legal processes such as arrest, prosecution, or sentencing. A defendant who absconds while on bail forfeits the bond and is subject to a warrant for their arrest. This action constitutes a separate criminal offense in many jurisdictions, such as failure to appear, which carries its own penalties.
