To have a common boundary with another parcel of land or a public right-of-way, such as a street, alley, or river. Properties that abut touch each other directly along a shared border, without any intervening land. The determination of whether properties abut is a factual question resolved by land surveys and legal descriptions contained within property deeds, which affects zoning regulations, easement rights, and responsibilities for shared infrastructure.
