Adjusted gross income

A taxpayer's gross income minus specific deductions allowed by the Internal Revenue Service, such as contributions to traditional IRAs, student loan interest, and alimony payments for agreements executed before 2019. This figure, often abbreviated as AGI, serves as the starting point for calculating many other tax deductions, credits, and limitations. AGI is reported on IRS Form 1040.
