Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002

A federal statute enacted in the United States to regulate the financing of political campaigns. This legislation, also known as McCain-Feingold, primarily aimed to eliminate "soft money" contributions to national political parties and restrict the use of corporate and union money for "issue ads" close to elections. It also increased the limits on individual contributions to federal candidates and political parties.
