Homeland Security Act of 2002

A federal law enacted in response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which established the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This act consolidated numerous federal agencies and departments under a single umbrella to coordinate efforts in border security, emergency preparedness, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism. It significantly restructured the federal government's approach to national security.
