Comity of nations

The principle by which one nation defers to the laws and judicial decisions of another nation, not out of strict legal obligation, but out of mutual respect and convenience. This doctrine promotes international cooperation and avoids conflicts of jurisdiction. It is a matter of courtesy and discretion, rather than a rule of international law.
