Confirmation hearing

A public hearing conducted by a legislative body, typically a committee, to evaluate the qualifications and suitability of a nominee for a high-level government position. During the hearing, the nominee answers questions from committee members regarding their experience, views, and past conduct. In the United States, presidential appointments to the Supreme Court and cabinet positions require Senate confirmation hearings.
