Consumer Leasing Act

A federal law, Chapter 5 of the Truth in Lending Act, that requires lessors to disclose key lease terms before a consumer signs. It covers leases of personal property used mainly for personal, family or household purposes, with a term over four months and a total obligation up to an inflation-adjusted ceiling of $73,400 in 2026. Regulation M implements the Act.
