Court costs

The official fees and charges required to be paid to the court for initiating and prosecuting a lawsuit. These expenses include filing fees, service of process fees, and charges for obtaining transcripts or certified copies of documents. In many jurisdictions, the prevailing party in a lawsuit may be awarded reimbursement for these costs by the losing party.
