The phenomenon where popular television shows depicting forensic science influence public perception of criminal justice. This often leads jurors to expect sophisticated forensic evidence in every trial, regardless of its relevance or availability. The effect can result in unrealistic expectations for prosecutors and defense attorneys regarding the presentation of evidence.
