Disclaim

To renounce or reject a legal right, interest, or claim. This act formally abandons an entitlement, preventing the disclaiming party from asserting it in the future. For example, an heir may disclaim an inheritance to avoid associated tax liabilities or to pass assets to another beneficiary.
