Exhaustion of administrative remedies

A legal doctrine mandating that individuals must complete all prescribed steps within an administrative agency's process before they can bring a lawsuit in court. This allows the agency to apply its expertise and resolve issues internally. Failure to exhaust these remedies often results in a court dismissing the case without prejudice.
