Right to sue letter

An official notification issued by a government agency, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), informing a complainant that they have exhausted administrative remedies and are now permitted to file a lawsuit in court. This letter is a prerequisite for bringing certain types of discrimination claims under federal law. It specifies a deadline, usually 90 days, within which the lawsuit must be filed.
