Grantor-retained income trust

An irrevocable trust where the grantor transfers assets into the trust and retains the right to receive all the income generated by those assets for a specified period. At the end of the term, the trust assets pass to the designated beneficiaries. This type of trust is less common now due to changes in tax law, often replaced by grantor-retained annuity trusts.
