The legal status of a person who has not yet reached the age of majority, which is 18 in most jurisdictions. This status confers certain protections and imposes disabilities, such as the inability to enter into binding contracts, vote, or be held to the same standard of criminal liability as an adult. A contract made by a minor is voidable at the minor's discretion upon reaching the age of majority.
