Inter partes

Between the parties, a Latin term describing a legal action or agreement that affects only the individuals directly involved. A judgment rendered inter partes binds only the specific litigants and their privies, not the general public. This contrasts with judgments in rem, which affect the status of property and are binding on all persons.
