Quasi in rem

A type of jurisdiction exercised by a court over a person's interest in property located within the court's territorial jurisdiction. The action is brought against the person, but the court's power to adjudicate is limited to the value of the property. This differs from in rem jurisdiction, which is over the property itself regardless of ownership.
