Quasi contract

An obligation imposed by law to prevent unjust enrichment, even though no actual agreement or promise was made between the parties. It is not a true contract but an equitable remedy where one party has conferred a benefit upon another, and it would be unfair for the recipient to retain the benefit without paying for it. The most common form is quantum meruit.
