Quantum meruit

A legal principle meaning "as much as he deserves," used to determine the amount of compensation due for services rendered when no formal contract exists or when a contract is unenforceable. It allows a party to recover the reasonable value of services provided to prevent unjust enrichment of the recipient. This is a form of quasi-contractual relief.
