Contract implied in law
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-001276
An obligation imposed by a court to prevent unjust enrichment, even though the parties did not intend to form a contract. This legal fiction, also known as a quasi-contract, creates a duty to pay for benefits received when it would be unfair to allow one party to retain the benefit without compensating the other. It is not a true contract but a remedy based on equitable principles.
