IP address

A unique numerical label assigned to each device participating in a computer network that communicates using the Internet Protocol. This address serves the primary functions of identifying the host or network interface and providing the location of the device in the network. The two most common versions are Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), which uses a 32-bit address, and IPv6, which uses a 128-bit address.
