Landlord and tenant

A legal relationship established when a property owner, the landlord, grants another party, the tenant, the right to occupy and use real property for a period in exchange for rent. This relationship is formalized by a lease agreement, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of both parties. State and local statutes, known as landlord-tenant laws, govern this arrangement.
