Limited jurisdiction

The authority of a court to hear only specific types of cases, as defined by statute or constitution. These courts are restricted in the subject matter they can address, the monetary amount of claims, or the remedies they can provide. Examples include traffic courts, small claims courts, and family courts, which handle specialized legal matters.
