Link

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-003067

A hyperlink: a reference embedded in a web page or document that takes the user to another page, file or location on the internet when activated. Legal disputes about links ask whether linking to or embedding another site's material infringes copyright, misuses a trademark or exposes the linker to liability for what is linked. United States courts have generally held that an ordinary hyperlink to material hosted elsewhere does not itself copy that material.
