Mann Act

A federal law, 18 U.S.C. § 2421, enacted in 1910, that prohibits the transportation of women or girls across state lines for immoral purposes. Originally aimed at combating prostitution and human trafficking, its broad language led to controversial applications beyond its initial intent. The act has been amended over time to focus more specifically on sex trafficking.
