Month-to-month tenancy

A leasehold estate that continues for successive monthly periods until terminated by either the landlord or the tenant. This type of tenancy does not have a fixed end date and renews automatically at the end of each month. State statutes govern the notice requirements for terminating a month-to-month tenancy, often requiring 30 days' written notice.
