Mortgagee

The lender in a mortgage agreement, typically a bank or financial institution, who provides funds to the borrower. This party holds a lien on the borrower's property as security for the repayment of the loan. The mortgagee has the right to foreclose on the property if the mortgagor defaults on their payments.
