Negative income

A financial state where an individual's or entity's expenses exceed their revenues over a specific period, resulting in a net loss. This situation indicates that more money is being spent than earned. For tax purposes, negative income, or a net operating loss, can often be carried forward or backward to offset income in other tax years.
