Negative pregnant

A form of denial in a pleading that, while literally denying the allegation, implicitly admits a lesser or more specific version of the allegation. This type of denial is considered evasive and is generally disfavored in legal practice. For example, denying that a defendant was in New York on a specific date might imply they were in New York on a different date.
