Open adoption

An adoption arrangement where there is some level of ongoing contact and communication between the adoptive family, the adopted child, and the birth parents. The extent of contact can vary widely, from periodic letters and photos to direct visits. This contrasts with closed adoption, where identifying information is sealed and no contact occurs.
