Opening statement

The initial presentation made by each party's attorney at the beginning of a trial, outlining the facts they intend to prove and the evidence they expect to present. This statement serves to introduce the case to the judge and jury and provide a roadmap of the upcoming testimony and exhibits. It is not an opportunity to argue the case or present evidence directly.
