Relating to the rules and standards governing the proof of facts in a legal proceeding. An evidentiary hearing is held to establish facts through the presentation of testimony and exhibits, as opposed to a hearing based solely on legal arguments. The Federal Rules of Evidence govern evidentiary matters in U.S. federal courts.
