Evidentiary fact

A fact that, when proven, tends to establish or disprove another fact in issue, known as an ultimate fact. It is a piece of information that contributes to the proof of a larger claim or defense. For example, a witness testifying to seeing a car at a specific location is an evidentiary fact supporting the ultimate fact of the driver's presence.
