Competent evidence

Evidence that is legally admissible in a court of law because it is relevant, material, and not excluded by any rule of evidence. It must be reliable and obtained through proper legal channels. The Federal Rules of Evidence and state evidentiary rules govern what constitutes competent evidence in judicial proceedings.
