Closing argument

The final statement made by an attorney to the judge or jury at the end of a trial, after all evidence has been presented. The purpose is to summarize the evidence, highlight key points, and persuade the fact-finder to rule in favor of their client. Attorneys are generally not permitted to introduce new evidence during this phase.
