Political question

A doctrine holding that certain issues are so inherently tied to the legislative or executive branches of government that courts should not resolve them. A court will decline to hear a case presenting a political question, deeming it non-justiciable. Issues such as the conduct of foreign policy or the ratification of constitutional amendments are often considered to fall under this doctrine.
