Hatch Act

A federal law that restricts the political activities of executive branch employees of the U.S. government, except for the President and Vice President. Its purpose is to maintain a non-partisan federal workforce and prevent political coercion. The law prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activity while on duty or in a federal building.
