Possessory lien

A right held by a creditor to retain physical possession of a debtor's property until a debt owed for services rendered to that property is paid. This type of lien is dependent on the creditor maintaining continuous physical control over the item. Common examples include mechanic's liens on vehicles or artisan's liens on repaired goods.
