Promise

A declaration or assurance made by one party to another, indicating an intention to act or refrain from acting in a specified way. In contract law, a promise can form the basis of a legally binding agreement if it is supported by consideration and other contractual elements. A breach of promise can lead to legal remedies, such as damages or specific performance.
