Real estate broker

A state-licensed individual or firm that acts as an intermediary between sellers and buyers of real property and receives a commission for these services. Brokers have completed additional education and licensing requirements beyond those for a real estate agent, which allows them to operate their own brokerage and employ other agents. A broker's duties include negotiating prices, arranging for title searches, and handling the paperwork for closing a transaction.
