A method of selling property directly by the owner without the representation of a licensed real estate agent or broker, an acronym for "For Sale By Owner". The seller is solely responsible for all aspects of the transaction, including pricing, marketing, showing the property, and negotiating the terms of sale. While the seller avoids paying a listing agent's commission, they are still typically responsible for paying the buyer's agent's commission if the buyer is represented.
