Rogatory letters

A formal request from a court in one country to a court in another country for judicial assistance, typically to obtain evidence from a witness located in the foreign jurisdiction. These letters, also known as letters of request, are used when direct compulsion of a witness is not possible. The process is governed by international treaties, such as the Hague Evidence Convention.
