Shareholder

An individual, company, or institution that legally owns one or more shares of stock in a public or private corporation. Shareholders possess certain rights, such as voting on corporate matters, receiving dividends, and inspecting corporate records. The extent of these rights is determined by the class of shares held, with common stock granting voting rights while preferred stock may not.
