Stock dividend

A dividend paid to shareholders in the form of additional shares of the company's stock, rather than cash. This distribution increases the number of shares an investor owns but does not change the total value of their ownership percentage in the company immediately. Stock dividends are often issued when a company wishes to conserve cash.
