Shortening time

A judicial order that reduces the standard period of notice or response time required by procedural rules for a particular legal action or event. A party typically requests shortening time when there is an urgent need for a hearing, discovery, or other procedural step to occur sooner than the rules ordinarily allow. Courts grant such requests only upon a showing of good cause or exigent circumstances.
